Running a pool tournament

Double elimination is the pub and league standard for pool, because table conditions and the break make single-frame upsets common.

Table count is your bottleneck, not player count. Two tables and 16 players in double elimination is roughly a four-hour night.

Match length

10–25 minutes (race to 2 or 3)

Typical field

8 to 32 players on one to four tables

16 players

15 matches as a knockout, 30 as double elimination
