Tournament bracket
64 entrants · single elimination · 63 matches · 0 byesHow many matches in a 64 team bracket?
63 matches. The arithmetic never changes: every match eliminates exactly one team, and to be left with one champion you must eliminate the other 63. So a 64-team knockout is 64 − 1 = 63 matches, and no arrangement of the draw can make it more or fewer. Add a third-place playoff and the total becomes 64.
64 is a power of two, so the bracket fills perfectly: no byes, every team plays in round one, and each round halves the field cleanly all the way to the final.

How many matches are in a 64 team bracket?
63. Each match removes one team and 63 of the 64 entrants have to go, so the total is fixed at 64 − 1. With a third-place playoff it becomes 64.
How many rounds is that?
6 — round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, final. Every round is full — no byes.
Are there any byes?
None. 64 is a power of two, so the bracket fills exactly and all 64 teams play in round one.
Can I run these 64 teams as double elimination instead?
Yes — switch the format in the generator. It becomes 126 matches instead of 63, because everyone bar the champion has to lose twice, plus one more if the grand final needs a reset. More on double elimination.
Can I download it as a PDF?
Yes — PDF and PNG, both at high resolution, plus a print-friendly version. Everything is generated in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
