Single elimination, double elimination, round robin, group stage, Swiss and league — what each one costs you in time and fairness.
The trade-off is always the same: fairness costs matches, and matches cost hours. Single elimination is the fastest and the harshest. Round robin is the fairest and the longest. Everything else sits in between.
