Round robin vs knockout
Which format suits your event — and what each one really costs in matches, hours and hurt feelings.
Eight teams: a knockout is 7 matches and half of your field is finished after one game. A round robin is 28 matches and everyone plays seven. Both produce a winner; only one produces a good day out for the team that loses first.
The honest answer is usually a group stage into a knockout — but it depends on your pitch count.
